Your numbers

Not a rule of thumb — the actual rate card

Postcode zones, not country averages

A pallet to Sicily is not priced like a pallet to Milan. The calculator matches your postcode against every published zone — 9 zones in Germany, 11 UK postcode groups, 4 Polish zones with per-pallet charges, plus zone tables for Italy, Spain, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Austria, Portugal, Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Slovenia, Greece, the Baltics, Denmark, Finland, Sweden and Ireland.

Remote areas and islands flagged

Four published lists are checked on every quote: DPD's Eastern-Europe remote list, FedEx's Italy out-of-delivery-area list (836 postcode ranges), the oversize-service island and mountain list (3,439 ranges) and Germany's own-truck self-delivery coverage list (1,141 postcodes). If your postcode is on a list, you see it — and whether the card prices that fee or bills it at cost.

Surcharges that usually surprise buyers

The card publishes 65 goods-category surcharges for DDP (wood products and sofas from RMB 1/kg, LED lighting RMB 0.5-2/kg, footwear and textiles RMB 2/kg, batteries RMB 4-5/kg, game machines and medical devices RMB 2-3/kg), residential and non-Amazon address fees, size and weight penalties, magnetic-goods testing, POD signatures and duty advance.

Oversize and pallet maths done properly

Long cargo is charged by length band (RMB 750 per shipment over 2.4 m, up to RMB 6,000 per piece over 6 m), pallet positions are counted from your dimensions using the card's own rules, and pieces over the courier ceiling (31 kg in the EU, 100 × 70 × 60 cm in the UK) are automatically rerouted to truck services instead of being quoted wrongly.

Three inputs, one landed cost

1

Enter the destination postcode

Country plus postcode - that is what decides your zone. Germany has 9 zones, the UK 11 postcode groups, Poland 4 zones; Italy, Spain, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria and the Nordics are zone-priced too.

2

Describe the cargo

Pieces and weight per piece, plus dimensions if the cartons are bulky. The calculator applies the rate card's minimum chargeable weight (12 kg per piece on courier services) and converts dimensions to volumetric weight at divisor 6000.

3

Compare door-to-door options

Every service that covers your zone is priced the same way: rate tier by chargeable weight, trade term (DDP/DAP/PVA/DDU), goods-category surcharge, address type, remote-area fee, pallet charge. You see the line items, not just a number.

Reading a result

  • Chargeable weight — the number everything is priced on, after the rate card's per-piece minimums and volumetric conversion.
  • Rate tier — the band your chargeable weight falls into (21 kg+, 101 kg+, 501 kg+, 1001 kg+…). Prices drop as the band rises, so consolidating shipments is usually cheaper than splitting them.
  • Pallet charge — applies to services that bill per pallet position as well as per kg (Poland, UK oversize).
  • Surcharges — every line shows the rate-card rule behind it, and the expandable panel lists the service's published clauses in English.
  • Not suitable — services are still listed but marked with the reason (courier weight ceiling, address type, postcode outside the zone) instead of being silently dropped.

Shipping from China to Europe, answered

How much does it cost to ship from China to Europe?
It depends on three things: the weight tier, the destination postcode zone and the service. On the rate card behind this calculator, sea-freight door-to-door (DDP) rates fall to roughly RMB 6-8 per kg once you pass the 300 kg-1,000 kg tiers, while air freight starts around RMB 35 per kg. Express-weight shipments and remote postcodes cost more, and oversize cargo that needs a truck costs more than carton cargo.
Why does my postcode change the price?
Most services on this rate card are priced by destination zone, not just by country. Germany is split into nine zones, Poland into four (plus a per-pallet charge), the UK into eleven postcode groups, and France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Ireland are all zone-priced. Our calculator matches your postcode to the right zone row before pricing, and separately checks it against the forwarder's remote-area and island lists.
What is the difference between DDP, DAP, PVA and DDU?
DDP: the seller/freight forwarder pays import duty and VAT, and it is included in the price you see. DAP: your consignee pays duty and VAT on arrival. PVA (VAT deferred): VAT is declared through your own VAT number and deferred - used by Amazon sellers with a valid VAT and EORI. DDU: the recipient clears under their own VAT and pays duty. On this rate card DAP is typically RMB 1-2 per kg cheaper than DDP, and a customs clearance handling fee (RMB 50-350 per shipment) applies.
What is a remote-area surcharge?
Couriers (DPD, UPS, FedEx) publish lists of postcodes that cost more to deliver to - islands, mountain areas and thinly populated regions. On this rate card DPD remote areas add RMB 250 per piece, and UPS remote areas add RMB 6 per kg with a RMB 300 per shipment minimum plus fuel. Oversize truck services list islands and remote areas as unserved or quote-only. The calculator checks your postcode against all four published lists automatically.
Why is there a minimum chargeable weight?
Courier-delivered services on this rate card (DPD/UPS) bill a minimum of 12 kg per piece, so five 3 kg pieces are charged as 5 x 12 kg = 60 kg. Truck-delivered services usually have no per-piece minimum but a per-shipment starting weight (50-101 kg depending on the service). The calculator applies both automatically.
How is volumetric weight calculated?
Volumetric weight = length x width x height (cm) / 6000, which means 1 cubic metre equals 166.67 kg. Chargeable weight is the greater of actual weight and volumetric weight, and couriers may apply a bubble-split rule (50% of the volumetric weight above the minimum is charged rather than the full amount) on air freight. Enter your carton dimensions in the calculator and it does this for you.
Can I ship oversize cargo - furniture, machinery, long items?
Yes, but it usually travels as a truck-delivered service, not a courier one. Courier services reject pieces over 31 kg (Germany, Eastern Europe) or over 100 x 70 x 60 cm (UK DPD). Truck services accept pieces up to 1,000-1,500 kg and 4-6 m long, with surcharges from RMB 750 per shipment for lengths over 2.4 m up to RMB 6,000 per piece for 6-7 m. Packaging standards (forklift feet, load beams) are published in the calculator's packaging tab.
Do you also quote full containers?
Yes. The calculator has a container (FCL) tab with the rate card's 40HQ door-to-door prices for 44 destination cities across the UK, France, Spain, Italy, Poland, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands - for example London RMB 70,860, Barcelona and Madrid, Warsaw, Hamburg and Rotterdam. FCL prices assume one product category, 40HQ, DDP and cargo up to 18 tonnes.
Can the calculator price Amazon FBA shipments?
Yes. Select "Amazon/FBA warehouse" as the delivery address and the calculator switches to FBA-specific services where the rate card publishes them - for example UK BHX4/LBA4 PVA container direct-delivery, or German FBA warehouse truck rates to DTM1/DTM2/DTM9. Many FBA services are PVA (VAT deferred) and need your VAT and EORI numbers.
Is this calculator an official quotation?
No. It is a costing guide calculated from our contracted forwarder's September 2026 rate card, using published prices, zones and surcharges - nothing is estimated or invented. Remote-area fees that the rate card bills at cost, fuel surcharges, customs inspection, storage, demurrage and re-delivery charges are excluded unless the card publishes a fixed amount. Confirm the final price with our team before booking.
Do you handle the sourcing side too, or only freight?
Both. We are a Guangzhou-based sourcing agent: we find and audit suppliers, negotiate factory prices, inspect goods before shipment and consolidate cargo at our hubs in Dongguan, Shenzhen, Yiwu, Shanghai and Ningbo. The freight calculator exists so you can see the landed cost before you commit to an order.

Where the data comes from

Every price, zone boundary, surcharge and clause in this tool is extracted from the rate card our contracted forwarder issued on 9 September 2026: 25 worksheets covering sea, air and China–Europe rail services to the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Eastern Europe, plus full-container rates, goods-category surcharges, oversize packaging standards and 4 remote-postcode lists. Nothing is interpolated or estimated. The extraction was cross-checked cell by cell against the workbook: 689 rate rows, zero mismatches. Currency is RMB; USD/EUR/GBP figures are indicative conversions. This is a planning tool, not a quotation — rate cards change, and final pricing is confirmed at booking.

Why is this shipping calculator free?

Because the rate card already sits in our office. We extracted all 689 rate rows from a forwarder tariff dated 9 September 2026 instead of estimating: enter a postcode and a weight and you see the same zone, weight band and surcharge rules we quote from. No signup, no email wall. It is a planning figure, not a quotation — rates move and the final price is confirmed at booking.
